Writer Chimamanda Adichie launches ‘Wear Nigerian’ project

Award-winning Nigerian literary icon, Chimamanda Adichie, has launched “Wear Nigerian” project, geared toward promoting made-in-Nigeria outfits.

The author said on her Facebook page that she has opened an official Instagram page and with it, she planned to promote the “Wear Nigerian’’ initiative.

She said “I am now on Instagram at @chimamanda_adichie, documenting my `Wear Nigerian’ project.

“In that spirit, I wear mostly Nigerian brands for my public appearances.

“In the past few weeks, I bought more Nigerian brands than I ever had in the past and I have discovered new names.

“I have been filled with admiration for the women and men running their businesses despite the many challenges they face.

“I am particularly interested in ‘inward-looking’ brands, those for whom dressing Nigerian women is as important as other goals.’’
